3. Istanbul
Located in Turkey, Istanbul is best known as a city of fire and major earthquakes in the world. Past records show earthquakes claiming over 40,000 lives at a go. In the year 1999, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 paralyzed the city and went away with thousands of precious lives. Worst of all is the discovered disaster waiting to happen. According to a recent research by Nature Geosciences, more than twelve million residents of Istanbul are sitting on top of a deadly fault capable of triggering another major earthquake. The research show that building tensions in the region have 30 to 60 percent chances of causing a great earthquake in the next 25 years. Talk of humans sitting on a time bomb!
