  1. Karen Blixen House Museum

In the vicinity of Nairobi, you can visit the home of the Danish writer Karen Blixen. This house, built in 1910 by a Swedish architect, is now a museum. Karen Blixen’s life on the scene, between 1914 and 1931, inspired her famous autobiographical novel “The African Farm” or “Out Of Africa”. The house was also used for the film adaptation of “Out Of Africa” by Sydney Pollack. Which was one of the most famous films of colonized Africa. The Karen Blixen Museum, opened to the public in 1986, is a beautiful colonial-style house surrounded by beautiful gardens. After the death of Karen Blixen, the house was bought by the Danish government and given as a gift of independence to the Kenyan government in 1964.
