Jan Koum, born in February 24^th 1971 in Kiev, is an entrepreneur, creator of the WhatsApp application. He joined the board of Facebook following the acquisition of Whatsapp by facebook2. Ukrainian Jewish origin, he grew up in Fastiv near Kiev and emigrated to the United States at the age of 16. On 17 November 2014, he gave a million dollars to the foundation FreeBSD4. He says on Facebook personally use this operating system since the late 1990s, and for server WhatsApp since the inception of the project. He’s California’s ninth richest person with a net worth of $7.9 billion.
